Superthinkers: Watch Rose Cartwright speak about her Pure OCD (5 min clip)

by | Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

We are so excited to talk about Rose Cartwright. If you haven’t heard of her, she’s the author of her memoir, Pure, which was adapted for TV, and she is the creative director and co-founder of Made of Millions, on the board of directors for Intrusive Thoughts, and all around a #boss.

In this clip, she talks about her journey with Pure OCD, and what the show means for her:  video interview

She says of her history with Pure O:

“…I had intrusive sexual thoughts, intrusive violent thoughts, general thoughts of a taboo nature, intrusive doubts, mental images, that I compulsively felt the need to get out of my head at any cost.. I thought if I ever told anybody, I would get locked up, I would get taken away from my family…they led to me self-harming, and eventually wanting to commit suicide”

About the show and what she hopes will come of it:

“I hope..it’s going to blow the roof off the idea that when you have a thought, you’re the author of that thought and you have to feel guilty about its contents. I hope that that’s just going to be gone, because thoughts enter our minds and leave our mind, often beyond our control. And that’s the core message of the show: you are not your thoughts”

“True confession: I procrastinate! With The ACT Workbook for the Anxious Procrastinator, Dr. Z. helped me understand what drives my procrastination, and gave me practical tools to break the pattern.

This workbook goes beyond a surface-level approach to procrastination, addressing the deeper internal barriers, so we procrastinators can finally make real progress on those aa, looming tasks.”
