Training opportunity: Learn how to work with super-feelers with Dr.Z (2 min read)

by | Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

The 2019 Anxiety and Depression Conference is on next month, March 28-31 at the Sheraton Grand Chicago, in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Z will be presenting a clinical case example alongside the other members of the panel to demonstrate her clinical thinking regarding treatment direction. If you are in town or at the conference, be sure to check it out!

ERP or ACT/ERP: when to do what!

Brief description: Clinicians are faced with the challenge of figuring out which clients will benefit from a regular ERP versus an ACT-based exposure. Each workshop presenter will offer a clinical case demonstrating their clinical formulation, clinical decision about the type of exposure-based interventions, and address specific clinical questions about this topic. In total, three different case examples from a residential setting and private practice offering intensive outpatient treatments (IOP) for OCD and anxiety related conditions will be presented. The main emphasis of this workshop is to apply current research data into clinical practice for exposure-based treatments with the end goal of providing clinicians with flexible treatment options and reducing their uncertainty or confusion about when to do what.

“True confession: I procrastinate! With The ACT Workbook for the Anxious Procrastinator, Dr. Z. helped me understand what drives my procrastination, and gave me practical tools to break the pattern.

This workbook goes beyond a surface-level approach to procrastination, addressing the deeper internal barriers, so we procrastinators can finally make real progress on those aa, looming tasks.”

– Dr. Debbie Sorensen, Ph.D.
