New clients often are concerned about getting started in treatment, thinking that the second they enter therapy, they’ll be asked to do exposures that they don’t feel ready for. This graphic outlines our general guidelines to anxiety/OCD exposure treatment. We always collaboratively prepare and development the exposures, making sure you’re comfortable with what you’re tackling. Our exposures include ones in specific situations, using your imagination, and using bodily sensations. Your exposures can include all or some of these, depending on what most suits your situation. Once the bulk of treatment is complete, you and your therapist work together to maintain the progress you’ve made.
