Tim Ferriss was chosen as one of Fortune‘s “40 under 40.” He’s an early-stage advisor and investor to many now-ubiquitous companies including Uber, Duolingo, Facebook, and Alibaba, and he’s written multiple New York Times and Wall Street Journal #1 bestsellers, including The 4-Hour Workweek.
He also has bipolar disorder, and has experienced over 50 major depressive episodes.
Tim credits the same mindset for helping him become a successful businessperson as for helping him avoid self-destruction and self-paralysis: stoicism. This helps him decrease emotional reactivity, step back, and re-focus on the things he can control in his life.
In this TED talk, he explains his way of stoicism and the tools he uses to help him get through moments of being stuck.
