We’re calling out our IOP program today, to highlight some of the amazing changes that clients in the program have seen.

To start, let’s clarify: IOP stands for Intensive Outpatient Program, and for us, that means committing to having sessions at least 3 times a week, for at least 45 hours total. We focus on the OCD symptoms, using exposure-response prevention, the most effective intervention for OCD based on 20 years of clinical research. We’re available ’round the clock for exposure coaching, and work with your schedule and locations, whether that means in our office, at your home, out in the community, or over Skype.

We’ll be the first to admit that yes, IOP is intense. It’s hard work. And the results are worth it. Taking a look at two of our IOP clients’ progression through treatment, it’s clear that these clients experienced significant change. The bars are their scores on scales measuring obsessions and compulsions, with higher scores indicating worse symptoms. This adolescent and adult both started in the ‘Extreme’ range, and over the course of treatment, ended up in the mild and moderate ranges. If you believe that your OCD symptoms feel like they’re in the ‘Extreme’ range, and you’ve tried other things before, you’ll understand what amazing progress these two clients felt.

As you can see from those charts, we also continue to track progress throughout treatment, so that if something isn’t going well, we know it, and can address it. That’s just part of how we maintain our commitment to evidence-based treatment.
