Ed Zine’s OCD was so severe, at age 24, that it took him seven hours to move from the end of his bed to the basement door in anticipation of meeting Michael Jenike, the psychiatrist who would help him. The mantra of ‘Time equals Progression, Progression equals Death’ pounded in his head incessantly, and his OCD rituals were aimed at stopping time. Michael Jenike is a psychiatry professor at Harvard Medical School, and the founder of the OCD Institute at McLean Hospital at Massachusetts General Hospital, and was uniquely qualified for this case because he made house calls, which enabled Ed to receive treatment without having to leave the basement.
Written by Terry Weible Murphy, a mother of a child with OCD, in collaboration with Zine and Jenike, this moving book brings greater awareness to the disorder and those suffering in silence. In furthering it’s reach and impact, Life in Rewind is going to be adapted for the movie screen. Produced by Middleton Media Group, the movie will be directed by “Baywatch” director Seth Gordon.
